About

I’m a Staff Software Engineer who builds the systems behind the product and cares how it feels to use, not only whether it works.

Jason McEvoy

Computers and video games have held my attention for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I filled notebooks with ideas for gadgets that combined whatever I wanted close at hand, usually a Game Boy, a CD player, and a digital camera. When the iPhone was introduced in 2007, it felt like someone had made that kind of sketch real.

I began my career in automated testing. At first, I was impatient to move closer to product development. In hindsight, learning to look for failure modes, unstated assumptions, and the gap between intended and actual behavior gave me a foundation I still use every day. That tester’s mindset now shapes how I approach both architecture and interface work.

At Acquia, my work has grown from individual product interfaces into the shared systems beneath them. As a Staff Software Engineer, I set direction across frontend architecture, design systems, and developer tooling. The goal is to give product teams a dependable foundation for delivering coherent experiences across the platform.

I still care about the small decisions that determine whether an interface feels understandable. Sophisticated technology only matters when people can use it with confidence. I enjoy translating between design and engineering, then building the structures that let teams carry that care across a product.

Outside work, I practice Kokikai Aikido, play video games, and spend a lot of time throwing a frisbee for my border collie.

I’m on GitHub and LinkedIn. If you’re using an AI agent, this site is also available through MCP and plain Markdown.
